The first GP lens material to offer the best of both worlds…
Paragon HDS® is the first and only lens material to offer all of the performance characteristics of a “workhorse” material with oxygen permeability other lens materials can’t match. In developing the material, Paragon researchers utilized concepts gleaned from the NASA Space Shuttle program to engineer a proprietary hyperpurified delivery system (HDS) that effectively eliminated so-called “bad” silicones from the polymer. By purifying its silicone content, researchers were able to make Paragon HDS the most oxygen efficient polymer on the market today. Paragon HDS contains the highest percentage of MMA for its Dk value of any FSA material currently available.
In addition to having the characteristics of a lower Dk material, Paragon HDS (paflufocon B) is approved by the FDA for up to seven days of extended wear. Along with this approval, Paragon HDS was subject of the most complete and comprehensive study on GP extended wear ever completed in the industry. This National Institute of Health (NIH) sponsored study confirming safety and efficacy, entitled CLEWS I & II, was conducted over a five year period by Professor Kenneth Polse, OD at University of California Berkeley and was published in the peer-reviewed journal, Ophthalmology, in August 2001.
